Volunteer Descriptions

 

Education

       Adult Education: Develop programs that address topics of key importance to the parent community (year round)

       Cultural Events: Develop school-wide programs for students that enhance JRMS curriculum (year round)

       Reflections: Coordinate and promote JRMS participation in national PTA program promoting student creativity (Nov. – Feb., esp. Jan.)

       Taking Care Week: Work with JRMS staff to develop a program that emphasizes wellness and builds on the JRMS Theme of Taking Care (May/June)

      

Social

       Birthday Board: Decorate school birthday board in main hall (monthly)

      Bus Driver Appreciation Day: Coordinate activities for Bus Driver Appreciation Day (April/May)

       Decorating: Decorate for major events: Open Houses (Sept.), Halloween Socials (Oct.), Winter Socials (Dec./Jan.)

       Staff Appreciation: Coordinate winter and spring Staff Appreciation events to acknowledge JRMS staff (Dec. & May)

       Grade Level Socials: Provide activities, food, and drink for after-school social events (Oct., Dec., March & June)

   

Fundraising

       Membership Directory: Coordinate online membership and digital directory (fall)

       Fall Fundraiser, Close Buy: Develop, promote, and administer Close Buy fundraiser (Sept./Oct.)

       Book Fair: Help with set up & take down and work at the week-long Scholastic Book Fair (Nov.)

       School Supply Sale: Work with teachers to develop grade specific school supply kits, promote and distribute (spring & Aug.)

       JRMS Amazon Bookstore: Administrate JRMS PTA’s Amazon bookstore (year round)

      

Other

       Communications: Send out JRMS PTA communications, put together Peek of the Week newsletter (year round)

       Bus Notes: Organize teams of two parents to take after-school notes from students each day as they enter school (year round)

       Picture Day: Help prepare students for school photo (Sept.)

       Bakers: Bake for Open Houses and Staff Appreciation Events (Sept, Dec. & May)

              Grade Liaisons: Assist teachers as needed with organizing parent volunteers for special, grade-specific events

    5th Grade: Metric Day (Oct.), Pi Day (March), and as needed

    6th Grade: as needed

    7th Grade: as needed

    8th Grade: Immigration Day, end-of-year events, and as needed
