The complete PTA Software guide

Are you confused about the countless school and PTA Software solutions available on the market? How does a Student Information System differ from a School Portal solution? What are the options available to a parent organization as opposed to a school district? Do you want to adopt a website for your PTA or a mobile app or both? Do you need something different for meeting your various needs? In this article, I will give you a brief overview of all the different types of PTA software that is available today. In a series of posts coming up, we will delve in detail about each area and the vendors that provide software in each specific area. Secure Your Email From Hackers

A Gmail phishing* attack has been perpetuated on millions of users in which the hacker sends you a fake email with an attachment that appears to come from one of your friends. Clicking on the attachment takes you to a replica of a Gmail login page. Once you enter your login and password, your email account is successfully hacked. A single step authentication, i.e., using only your password to unlock your account, can be readily compromised by the ‘phishing’ attacks as described above, enabling hackers to access your account. However, the use of an additional layer of security in form of ‘two-step verification’ will prevent an unwanted individual to access to your email when your password is compromised. In these days, it has become an absolute must to set up 2-step verification on all of your email accounts as well as other Internet-based accounts. If you are interested in making your […]

How the app is designed for the best user experience

School Directory App: The Anatomy of an Intuitive and Easy-to-Use Mobile Directory

The goal of this article is to highlight the design elements that go into the creation of a school directory app. The school directory app translates and presents a database of information in a format that can be easily found and accessed by the parent or member in the school. Essentially, the user should be able to find the information that they need, e.g., parent or teacher’s contact information, quickly and intuitively from a school directory app. The three most important aspects to building a user-friendly school directory app are: Information Architecture, User Interface and User Experience. All these three components are reflected in MobileArq School Directory app. The objective of the design was to make the school directory app an easy-to-use tool for a K-12 school parent.   With the MobileArq school directory app, a parent can easily connect with another parent or a teacher/staff within the school community.   The organization […]

Forget Paper Directories, Wilton Schools are Going Digital & Mobile!

This article was reproduced with permission from  Heather Borden Herve, Editor of the Good Morning Wilton newspaper. By Heather Borden Herve, Editor, Good morning Wilton Wilton Public Schools are taking one more giant step forward into the technological era, as theParent Teacher Associations (PTA) in all four Wilton schools are taking the PTA directories and handbooks mobile. Say goodbye to the spiral bound paper books listing all the families with children enrolled in each school, and say hello to digital directories on a phone app. Hopefully launching in time for Meet the Teacher Day on Thursday, Sept. 1, the initiative was led by Nicola Davies, president of the Cider Mill PTA. She’s cautious about being over-excited even as other parents who’ve heard about the change think the idea is amazing. “I hope so, fingers crossed,” Davies says, looking ahead to next week’s launch and hoping it all goes smoothly. “It’s kind […]
