What did we learn from a recent Parent Survey on the MobileArq Online School Directory?

User feedback is extremely important in helping to make MobileArq a very useful and valuable communication tool for K-12 school parents.  Towards the end of 2014, a simple multiple-choice survey was sent to over 2,000 users of MobileArq School Directory.  From the user feedback, we learned what resonated with the parents and what did not. Summary of the results are highlighted below:   Over 85% of the participants chose the option that they would be very disappointed if MobileArq services were discontinued. A similar number would recommend MobileArq to another school or a friend to use. Most of them commented that the convenience of having the entire phone book of the school on their phone is the most attractive feature.         Several of the benefits of the MobileArq School Directory as provided by the parents include the following: Quick access to phone numbers and teacher emails. Why is it not too late to do the school directory app in Winter?

Every PTA/PTO/HSA loves to compile a school directory at the beginning of the school year in August/September. To get a directory published by the end of September, you need to collect the permission from parents and their updated contact info to be published in the directory during the summer months. This includes finding volunteers willing to chase the parents and organize the information. With all these requirements, the directory usually does not get done in time for distribution to the parents in September. For some schools, the directory is simply not produced even by December. Or you could have the parents simply update their information in an online directory. With, this problem in mind, MobileArq helps out the PTAs and PTOs with the preparation of the online and mobile school directories. So, if you have not yet compiled your school directory, then, below are the top ten reasons your PTA/PTO […]

The Still Unchartered Waters of Charter Schools

By Guest Blogger, Robin Vaughn Charter schools are growing. During a 13 year period, from 1999 to 2012 the number of US charter schools increased nearly four-fold, from 1,500 to 5,700. More significantly, the student enrollment shot up from 0.3 million to 2.1 million, respectively. That’s a seven-fold increase in the collective student body. Charter school administrations forge an independent path for meeting performance standards and as such, have a vested interest in reaching educational goals for student achievement, the success of which determines the longevity of the charter. Exemplary management of a charter school or any educational institution depends heavily on a timely communications network. It’s essential to keep the conversation flowing between parents, teachers, PTA and school administration, solving problems or avoiding them altogether. In the convoluted processes of school administration, communication sometimes gets lost in the daily shuffle. A reformed education model that stresses accountability can’t afford […]
