Secure your smartphone with a passcode

This article written by MobileArq Founder Niru Mallavarupu was originally published in Tap Into – https://www.tapinto.net/towns/springfield/articles/tech-tip-securing-your-smartphone Since smartphones have become an inseparable part of our lives, everything we do is stored on our phone – pictures, notes to self, logins to social networks and more. God forbid if our phone gets stolen; this will not be just a mere inconvenience but may lead to a significant personal loss from unauthorized access to our private accounts. Here is a simple tip to ensure that only you have access to your phone: Tip #1. Set up a passcode. On Androids, you can go from “Settings” to “Lock Screen and Security” (Figure 1.) and select “Screen Lock Type” (Figure 2). Useful apps to boost your productivity

Today, I did a hands-on workshop in the Summit Public Library about apps that will boost your productivity in your daily life. I got an amazing audience who were very interactive and enthusiastic. Some of them were really good technologists, like my friend, Tara Grey, who helps people one-on-one with technology. Here is my presentation: Apps to improve your productivity in your business or personal life from Nirupama Mallavarupu

All these three components are reflected in MobileArq School Directory+. The objective of the design was to make the directory an easy-to-use tool for a K-12 school parent.   With the MobileArq school directory, a parent can easily connect with another parent or a teacher/staff within the school community.   The organization and the layout of the mobile directory app, as seen by the user, is shown in the attached figure. Information Architecture (IA): What is the critical information for the user and […]

Forget Paper Directories, Wilton Schools are Going Digital & Mobile!

This article was reproduced with permission from  Heather Borden Herve, Editor of the Good Morning Wilton newspaper. By Heather Borden Herve, Editor, Good morning Wilton Wilton Public Schools are taking one more giant step forward into the technological era, as theParent Teacher Associations (PTA) in all four Wilton schools are taking the PTA directories and handbooks mobile. Say goodbye to the spiral bound paper books listing all the families with children enrolled in each school, and say hello to digital directories on a phone app. Hopefully launching in time for Meet the Teacher Day on Thursday, Sept. 1, the initiative was led by Nicola Davies, president of the Cider Mill PTA. She’s cautious about being over-excited even as other parents who’ve heard about the change think the idea is amazing. “I hope so, fingers crossed,” Davies says, looking ahead to next week’s launch and hoping it all goes smoothly. “It’s kind […]
